Can I deposit publications that don't fall under the OA Policies?

The UC Publication Management System searches for publications across all time and may find publications which are not covered the UC OA Policies. (Related: Which publications are covered by the UC OA Policies?

As a UC employee you may still be able to deposit it into eScholarship, UC’s open access repository and publishing platform, even if it does not fall under the OA Policies. eScholarship can be used to deposit:

  • Previously published scholarly articles
  • Working papers (Preprints)
  • Lab reports
  • Conference proceedings
  • Book-length works

The publication should not violate any laws or the rights of others (e.g., contract terms, copyright, privacy, etc.) and be of a scholarly nature.

If the publication is a journal article, check the SHERPA/RoMEO advice tab on the deposit screen for further information about journal policies. If you are not sure whether you have the right version or have other questions about depositing a publication which doesn't fall under UC's OA Policies, consult the OA Policies FAQ or contact your campus Library for assistance.
